Got a question?
Chicken salt isn’t well known outside of Australia so questions about it are very welcome! The most common questions are listed below. If your question isn’t covered, email sales@chickensalt.co.uk or send us a WhatsApp message and we’ll get you the right answer!
Is chicken salt gluten free?
Yes! Chicken salt does not contain gluten. It does contain Monosodium glutamate (flavour enhancer 621) but there is no gluten in MSG and so can be eaten by people with coeliac disease.
Be aware our Kentuckiana Seasoned Salt does contain gluten. Both salts are stored separately and do not come into contact with each other.
Is chicken salt vegetarian?
Yes! Chicken Salt is vegetarian. There is no chicken in chicken salt! Chicken salt is not vegan as trace amounts of dextrose are derived from animal products.
How do I store it?
Both our salts come in a food grade stand up pouch with an airtight Mylar resealable zip lock. This will keep it fresh. Keep it out of sunlight as this will bleach the colour out.
Our Kentuckana Seasoned Salt does not come with an anti-caking agent. Keep this seasoning sealed in the supplied pouch and strictly limit exposure to air by flattening the pouch before sealing.
It may cake (form lumps) with exposure to air but flatten the packet to remove them!
